FUNDAMENTALS TO PROFESSIONAL THEATRE: CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Acting: Character Development

 

The goal of a trained actor is to become a fully realized three-dimensional character, with a rich backstory. Your character must be believable, truthful and not a cliche. During this class you will learn how to breakdown a script, bring dialogue alive and make your character a ‘real’ person.

Registration fee: $235 (donation)

To ensure efficient use of resources, courses must have a minimum of eight (8) students enrolled in order for a class to be offered. Fees will be refunded or rolled over to another course of the students choice if the class is cancelled.

What do we do with the fees?

We use the fees that we charge for this program to cover overhead, educational materials, host technology, create and test different business models, conduct market research, and also to drive workforce development initiatives that support and develop the constituents of our community.

  • Physical Warm-Up: Laban Movement Techniques.
  • Creating a storyline Internally
  • Accents: Creating a dialect for a character
  • The characters story before the moment in the script
Week Three
  • Mental arm ups
  • Consistency with character in various scenarios
  • Physicality: The physical specifics to a character
  • Character creating for auditions
Week Four
  • Vocal Warm-Up: Alexander Link latter Techniques
  • Miming (storytelling without words): Williamson and AséOya Techniques
  • Nuances and Control: Controlling the Internal battle to portray the character Externally
  • Character creating for auditions
